Pool Practice is a female-led creative studio in Berlin founded by Claudia Klat and Lisa Pepita Weiss. The two designers met while studying together at Zurich University of the Arts.
The founding duo forms the core of the practice and works across all projects. Depending on the requirements and scope, the studio expands its team with specialists from its network, bringing together different perspectives and areas of expertise while keeping graphic design at the core.
The practice is rooted in Swiss Style typography – but with edge. Its work combines rigorous structures with experimentation, bringing together analogue and digital techniques and exploring different approaches. Rather than following a particular style, the studio develops an individual visual language suited to the context and requirements of each brief.
Alongside commissioned work, Pool Practice develops self-initiated projects, including bags, typefaces and a carpet, published as Pool Editions. Talks and workshops are also part of the practice, including at MdRV Ravensburg and Hong Kong Design Institute. Lisa teaches Typography at Lette Verein Berlin.
